September 26th – New Student Welcome Convocation.

The New Student Welcome Convocation marks the formal entrance of our incoming students into UC San Diego’s academic community.  As a bookend to Commencement, Convocation provides an opportunity for our newest Tritons to hear from campus leaders and engage with faculty at the start of their collegiate journey. 2023 celebrates the 18th year of this important campus tradition.

Students, please join us on RIMAC Field on Tuesday, September 26 at 4:30 p.m.
Note: doors open at 3:30 p.m.

This program is open to all first-year undergraduate students, transfer students, and incoming graduate students. We will have the opportunity to hear from the Chancellor, Executive Vice Chancellor, as well as your student government president to celebrate the start of your academic journey.

September 27th – Scripps Student Symposium (S3)

The goal of S3 is to provide a platform for Scripps Institution of Oceanography graduate students to present and discuss their research with colleagues from all curricular groups, to foster interdisciplinary collaboration amongst the student population, and to introduce the new first-years to the wide variety of research Scripps has to offer. This event has been going on since 2014. The presentations are designed to be understandable not just to specific fields, but to the broader Scripps community.

You can still submit artwork for this years’ symposium until September 20th!
