Current MBC students Kenan Chan, Biz Wallace & Elena Neibaur made the short-film “Behind the Mask” during our MBC Summer Course film week in 2022.

In December the film was featured in CMBC’s 2022 Salty Cinema event, and now you can see the film again in wide-screen, and cheer on our student filmmakers. Their submission was accepted to the UC San Diego Film Festival this weekend February 25-26 at the Price Center!

Tickets are FREE.

The film features interviews with Scripps Oceanography Dive Safety Officer, Christian McDonald, and graduate students Mohammad Sedarat (PhD in the Smith Lab), Erica Ferrer (PhD in the Aburto Lab), and Analisa Freitas (MAS MBC ’23) talking about the creation of the Scripps SCUBA DIVERsity Program and it’s impact.

We couldn’t be more proud of our students and the hard work they put into this amazing short!

Congrats Kenan, Biz and Elena, and all the MBC students for making short films!
